The NoMad Hotel

I visited the NoMad hotel last week with a dear friend of mine and to say the experience was beyond amazing is an understatement.

We had dinner reservations for 7:30pm on a Friday evening,we were seated in the Atrium. The the Atrium reminds me of a Gentleman's club-heavy on the wood, dimly lit with a glass ceiling.  The room is outfitted with dark walls and with glass lantern styled sconces.  The chairs are a beautiful celadon green, the texture/pattern is a velvet brocade- the perfect height for dining; not too cushy. The solid wood dining tables, sans tablecloth lends to the room's refinement.

From where I was sitting, on my left, is the bar.  In the evening, the green bottles you see below are back lit and gives off a pleasant green glow.  The glow that emanates from the bar is reminiscent of a  glass of a Absinthe served in a French bistro in Paris circa 1880.

Behind my companion, the Fireplace; imported from a great French château. The setting is quite intimate, it seats twelve.

I stand at 5 feet 5inches, and was eclipsed by the grandness of this fireplace.

Behind me, The Parlour, with it's beautifully framed pressed flora, which outlined the entire room.

The food was exquisite, the service impeccable, the interiors old world, french glamour.

When in New York City, do give this place a try. If not for the food, for the decor and a cocktail.

Have you visited NoMad? What was your experience?

Black and Gold

Maybe it's just the weather, you know, the non existant spring that is NYC right now, but

I can't wrap my head around lightening up my decor scheme as of late.  I've been searching for inspiration, and I believe I've found it.

Black, White and Gold, my go to color scheme-it's simple, classic and ultra chic, it will never fail you or disappoint you like the weather can.

I'm going to update the classic scheme by mixing traditional and modern furniture pieces. Aren't the two directional stripes everything?!

When I go about selecting gold accents, I feel they should be in the most unexpected places; on the underside of a coffee table looks uh-mazing.

Just when I thought zebra floor covering was dead....ta-da, it still works!

What are your go-to color choices?
