Friday-Art Day

I love art, in all its forms. I minored in art history, just for the fun of it. I've traveled abroad to soak it all in. Living in a bustling city such as New York, I find it difficult, at times, to truly enjoy the arts. Having to share my space with tourists, who infiltrate every inch of the City's museums, is no fun at all. Who wants to deal with all of that after a stressful day at work? So I have declared Fridays Art Day! The day I visit various art galleries throughout the city, my first stop Chelsea-Gagosian Gallery.

Who better to see after a hard week at work than Jean-Michel Basquiat...continues thru Apr 6.

Here's a blurb from the Times: JEAN-MICHEL BASQUIAT

Gagosian Gallery, 555 W24th St., NYC

“It is not true that only the good die young, but Jean-Michel Basquiat did at 27 in 1988. He was not only good; at his best he was one of the most original artists of his generation. If that sounds like an extravagant claim, you might have a look at the high-quality selection of 59 of his paintings at Gagosian Gallery in Chelsea. There is not a lot of art from the ’80s that feels this alive today.” - Ken Johnson, NY Times
